More about Jess

My name is Jessica DeMille, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Psychology from Trent University. With over 10 years of experience in mental health, developmental services, and youth support, I have worked with individuals and families across a wide range of needs and life transitions. These experiences have shaped my approach as a therapist—grounded, collaborative, and responsive to each person’s unique story.

I understand that starting therapy can feel like a significant step. It’s not always easy to open up or know where to begin. My goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where you feel genuinely heard and where we can work together to better understand what’s getting in the way and explore meaningful paths forward. Whether you are navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, low mood, or major transitions, I hope to help you make sense of what you're feeling, tap into your resilience, and move toward meaningful, lasting change. Together, we can uncover the strengths that already exist within you and build practical strategies that align with your goals, values, and personal growth. Therapy is a partnership, and I believe in being open and transparent about the process, ensuring that you feel informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way. Let’s work together to embark on a journey toward achieving a fulfilling and balanced life.

I tend to draw from the following therapeutic approaches:

Individual Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: Builds psychological flexibility through acceptance and values-based action.

  • Narrative Therapy: Encourages you to rewrite unhelpful life stories and see yourself as the author of your experiences.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours to improve emotional well-being.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy: Explores how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence your present relationships and behaviours.

  • Solution-Focused Therapy: A goal-oriented approach that emphasizes your strengths and what’s already working to help you create practical, effective solutions.

  • Somatic and Trauma-Informed Approaches: Supports healing by integrating mind-body awareness and recognizing how trauma is stored in the body.

  • Jungian Dream Analysis: Explores symbols and unconscious themes to promote self-understanding and personal growth.

Couples & Family Therapy

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy: Strengthens emotional bonds by helping partners and family members communicate more openly and securely.

  • Gottman Method: Provides practical tools for improving communication, managing conflict, and deepening connections in relationships.

  • Attachment-Based Approaches: Focuses on how early relationships shape emotional connections and relational patterns.

  • Structural Family Therapy: Helps restructure family roles, boundaries, and hierarchies to create a healthier family dynamic.

  • Internal Family Systems: Explores inner emotional “parts” to promote self-awareness, healing, and balance within relationships.
